Calixte Henri was born in 1933 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and died in April 2010. He studied with Philome Obin at the Centre d'Art. He evolved from impressionism to cubism, with strong influence from Braque, while maintening Haitian subjects. He used to paint using the palette.
